Chloe and Halle started their musical journey at a very young, later taking to youtube like many other stars. After releasing many covers including Beyonce’s “Pretty Hurts” they caught the attention of Queen Bey. Signing them to her label, Parkwood Entertainment, she has mentored and encouraged them to be who they are.
The sister duo have released their highly anticipated sophomore album The Kids are Alright including some major hits like the “Grown-ish” theme song, “The Kids are alright” and “Warrior” from the A Wrinkle in Time soundtrack, these young ladies came strong with this compilation.
While the music industry is known for going with mainstream, Beyonce has guided them in a different direction. She has allowed the 20 and 18 year-old girls to develop their own sound and to take complete creative control and you can hear the unique and harmonious talent the sisters embody in the album. Refusing to dumb down their music they have proven that this younger generation’s artists and audience can not be placed in a box.
The entire album is different and well written but the songs that I drifted toward were “Fake” featuring Kari Faux and “Happy without me.” Chloe and Halle may have just created their very own Lemonade for millennials.
10/10 for creativity and fresh new music compared to mainstream.
