Kicker Country Stampede 2017

I hope everyone is having a great summer. I know The Gelush’s summer is going great, in part because I had the awesome experience of going to Kicker Country Stampede for my third time. It was also my second year of doing media for KSDB 91.9.

This year had a great line up of artists like Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton, Alan Jackson, and many more. I had the opportunity to interview the band Two Way Crossing. The main two singers are a married couple named Jenny and Blake Marvin, and they have a guitarist named Kevin Smith and a drummer named Jaron Mossman. During the interview we talked about their song “Car Trouble”, and how they found a really good dancer to be in the music video. The song is really cool and they were really nice to interview. I also got to see them perform. They are definitely a powerhouse band to see, and I think that all my listeners need to look them up.

I also got another interview with upcoming artist Casey Muessigmann, who was on season three of The Voice. He was a blast to do an interview with him I learned a lot. I learned that he was on Blake Shelton’s team, and Muessigmann said it was great to work with him because Shelton would push him to be better. I also learned that he grew up in a family that loved to sing a lot, and that because of his busy job he makes time for personal time.

I also had the chance to be up close to Big and Rich when they performed. It was my first time seeing them, and let me know tell you they did one hell of a job. I really enjoy their song ”Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy”. The first night of Kicker Country Stampede I got to be in the pit right by the stage to see the power house Thomas Rhett perform, and he is just great at what he does.

I also enjoyed watching the show with my best friend, Dustin Williams, who is one of the great dudes that I had the chance of meeting at my first Kicker Country Stampede in 2015. He is a part of the K-State country dance club known as The Swingin’ Spurs. I was blown away watching the team, led by Donita Whitney, tossing the girls into the air. It was great to see Dustin perform, because he is an awesome person and one the best dancers that I know.

I’m saving the best for last. I had awesome time meeting Cowboy Troy when I was backstage. I enjoyed my time talking to him and getting to know him as a person instead of a singer. I love his song “Playing Chicken with a Train”.

If you missed this year’s Kicker Country Stampede next year will be here before you know it and the 2018 Kicker Country Stampede has been announced Florida Georgia Line will be coming back, and they are arguably one of the  hottest groups in country music of today! I can’t wait till next year to see them perform Cruise, H.O.L.Y, Round Here, and Stay.
