How did you get involved?

I was getting really into music journalism last summer, so I decided volunteering for KSDB was a great way I could personally get involved in something other than personal projects. I didn’t do too much last semester, but as soon as I saw a job in the music department was available, I knew I had to become a part of the team.

What does your job entail?

I mainly write for the website; album reviews, music rotation Wednesdays, What’s Spinning, and more; but I also enter music into the system, help listen to new promoter CDs, and do whatever else Sara needs help with.

Favorite part of your position? Or the station?

Personally, I love finding new artists, especially if they’re smaller. So going through the all of the newly released albums we’re sent is a great time. I also just love writing about music. I sometimes even do it in my free time.

What’s your biggest goal this semester?

Starting off; just consistently getting our content out there. After everything’s settled, hopefully coming up with new ideas to keep things fresh; either for the website, or the music department.

3 Albums?

Hypermagic Mountain by Lightning Bolt – If you ever need some cacophony in your life, it’s some of the best noise rock out there.

Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem – James Murphy is a saint, and “Someone Great” is up there with my favorite songs ever.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by the Red Hot Chili Peppers – In my opinion, their best album. I will never not jam to Flea’s basslines.

Interesting Fact:

Although I’ve been out of it for a while, I am a second degree blackbelt in Taekwondo.
