How did you get involved with KSDB?
Since Freshman year I have enjoyed listening to KSDB. This spring semester I had a large part of my schedule open up and I saw that the station was hiring a News Director. I applied and fortunately got the position!

What exactly does your job entail?
I lead the news department which has a few responsibilities. We have to write the daily news for our 9, noon, 3, and 6 news shows. We try to have a local, state, national, sports, and weather piece. Additionally I try to set up roundtable discussions with members of the community about controversial issues that the regular media probably isn’t covering. I also help with our Weekend News Roundup show which features longer original stories by students with KSDB.

Favorite part about your position? Or the station?
I’m passionate about the news and so I enjoy conveying what is occurring in the world to our diverse audience. My favorite part about the station is that it is an awesome medium through which freedom of speech and thought can be generated and broadcasted with no fear of losing funding.

What’s your biggest goal for the semester?
I recently got hired so my primary goal is to build the KSDB newsroom into a recognized and respected group. In the short term this primarily means I will have to learn a lot and build new skills to accomplish this goal.

Give us 3 albums or artists you’ve been vibing with lately.
A Tribe Called Quest- Specifically Midnight Marauders and their new album We Got It From Here… Thank You 4 Your Service
Frank Ocean- Primarily Channel Orange but some of his new Blonde
Post Malone- I know the dude just cashed out on “White Iverson” but Stoney has a lot of fun songs on it

And, what is an interesting fact about you?
I had stage 3 testicular cancer for the last part of 2016 so that’s fairly interesting. I have a lot of stories about that.
